A decent sized month with 6 films.
Joker
#FF19 Joker is an odd film. Joaquin Phoenix puts in another fantastic, mesmerising performance as the titular character, emerging slowly over the film.

The nods to the wider lore are painful, and the nods to Taxi Driver make for unfavourable comparisons
Unsubtle but fascinating
Ad Astra
#FF19 Ad Astra has a great aesthetic and atmosphere. Lonely and isolated. The pace is appropriately slow, dragging a little in places.

The biggest issue is the genuinely awful voice over; constantly telling us what we can or should see. Aggrevating.
Decent-ish.
The Day Shall Come
#FF19 The Day Shall Come sees Chris Morris once again explore an aspect of radicalism, but in a far more mundane way this time. It's absurd, with excellent dialogue, and some great performances.

A little more dry than previous efforts, but still worth seeing.
Terminator: Dark Fate
#FF19 Terminator: Dark Fate has some decent ideas, executed in the most budget action of ways.

It has dependably bad dialogue, poor CG (especially at the start), and Some reasonable action scenes.
A forgettable action film, wearing the long, dead husk of a much better franchise
The Laundromat
#FF19 The Laundromat is a fun, docudrama in the vein of The Big Short.

The cast is fantastic and look like they’re having a good time, the direction is great, and the story moves at a decent pace.
A little slow towards the end, but very worth watching.
Zombieland: Double Tap
#FF19 Zombieland: Double Tap is... fine. The main plot is fairly bare, and the side stories are pure filler. There are some fun action scenes, and decent jokes.

One of the new characters steals every scene she is in, but some of the older characters get short shrift.
Okay.
The October Winner
Nothing really amazing here, but I’ll give it to The Laundromat as the best of the bunch.
