My concentration was elsewhere so only three films in October.
#FF20 Enola Holmes didn't work for me. While the cast are charming, the plot they're running through feels forced and overlong; a series of set pieces and encounters, flimsily connected. None of the characters earned their emotional beats.— Gary Fleming (@garyfleming) October 11, 2020
Honestly, a bit dull.
The Other Lamb
#FF20 The Other Lamb follows a cult member starting to become disillusioned with her leader.— Gary Fleming (@garyfleming) October 26, 2020
This film is gorgeous: from the saturated colours against the natural, to some of the vistas. Stunning cinematogrpahy.
The plot is lacking. The changes and ending feel cliched. Decent.
The Trial of The Chicago 7
#FF20 The Trial Of The Chicago 7 is a look at government power, protest, and counter-culture, through the lens of a courtroom drama.— Gary Fleming (@garyfleming) October 31, 2020
Strong performances from an excellent cast, tight dialogue, and excellent structuring have the film going at a great pace.
The October Winner
The winner for October is The Trial Of The Chicago 7, a timely reminder of systemic injustice.
